Starting the conversation: behavioral health

The last six months have brought considerable new challenges, and exacerbated old ones; as we all look to navigate this “new normal”, having mental health resources readily available has never been more critical.

An average of 1 in 5 adults suffer from mental illness. 1 in 5 adults. And this is the reported average BEFORE the pandemic that turned our worlds upside down and flooded us with uncertainty. While we have yet to quantify the impact of the pandemic on the incidence and severity of mental illness, we do know this: the need for behavioral health resources is significantly outpacing health system capacity.

Here’s the silver lining: we have a team and tools dedicated to helping your provider resources go the extra mile. Make no mistake, this isn’t about replacing in-person, human-to-human care—it’s about complementing and optimizing your care team. It’s about reaching patients who are: finding themselves at home more often, unable to take time away from their jobs and families, may be afraid to seek care, or simply don’t know where to begin.

Let’s talk about how virtual care can help you: 

  1. Start the conversation. Invite patients to complete a depression (PHQ-9) or anxiety (GAD-7) screening through an intelligent interview, before connecting in real-time with a provider via video visit. Offer these and other protocols as a free benefit to your own employees—or if you’re really looking to make an impact, partner with employers or universities in your community.
  2. Protect provider capacity with a more efficient intake process. Our pre-built screeners are just the tip of the iceberg. We work with our partners to create a smooth, efficient intelligent interview for: hypertension, ADHD, postpartum depression and other women’s health protocols—the sky’s the limit! We can use this prior to an in-person or virtual video visit to ensure providers are set up for an efficient, patient-centric experience.
  3. Offer accessible follow up care options. Behavioral health is rarely one episode of care. For patients who already have an established provider relationship, we offer scheduled video visits to decrease no-show rates. When a video check-in isn’t necessary, automate an intelligent interview to follow up on their medication or any mental health changes since their last visit. Then, you’re able triage those who need video visits to connect with a provider.
